Dear Murphy parents, guardians and family members,
Coming off a long weekend we are hopeful the season of illness has subsided and our students and staff are feeling better heading into March and a date with spring. I trust everyone reached out to the teachers during conferences to get an update on how their child is progressing.
Our work continues to focus on developing the emotional and social skill sets of our students. Academics growth is always the key component of what we pride our work on, however, of equal importance is the development of each students social and emotional health. In previous newsletters I have mentioned the term Growth Mindset. Students are given opportunities to engage in learning experiences where they need to develop persistence, embrace challenge, and celebrate effort. Our students will fail at various tasks, we encourage that, and yearn to make that a teachable moment about learning being a process of failures, and successes. We “give permission” for our students to fail. We want them to realize that intelligence is not fixed. It can flourish with time and effort.
Please join us in our work to stress effort, welcome challenges, and encourage students to say ,“I don’t know it -YET!" Here's the link to our newsletter: Feb/March 2020 Newlsetter
Warm regards, Robin
