March 23, 2020

Dear Murphy Parents and Families,

As we embark into the second week of our school closure, I am writing to inform you of next steps at the elementary level for on-line teaching and learning.  Our primary goal is to provide all of our students with continued educational opportunities that meet students’ diverse learning needs to the greatest extent possible. We will undoubtedly face challenges throughout this process as we venture into teaching and learning through a digital environment.  However, the district leadership, teachers and staff are all committed to creating the best opportunities for our families while also remaining flexible and sensitive to the needs of students, staff and families during this time.

Please note the following information and important dates with respect to the Branford Public Schools’ on-line learning plan:
  • During the week of March 23-27th, teachers and staff will be preparing schedules, setting structures and routines, and building their own capacity around using the technology resources.  More information will follow once the schedules are developed.
  • Information will be shared by individual teachers to parents/families via email and google classroom by Friday, March 27, 2020.  Please continue to check your email and the district website for updated information.
  • Please continue to use the BPS Enrichment Resources for Parents and Caretakers.  Teachers will also be providing more guidance on additional activities to do with your child this week. Here’s the link to the resources: Enrichment Resources.

On Monday, March 30th, we will launch the on-line learning plan.  Your child’s classroom teacher will be sending out more information on the schedule for your child’s learning throughout the week.

Families lacking internet access may be eligible for free or inexpensive wifi through the following providers:  Comcast/Xfinity Internet Essentials and Frontier.

Free “grab and go” meals continue to be available at Branford High School for BPS families with children age 18 and under.  The hours for breakfast and lunch are from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Additional information regarding meals is on the District’s website.

Thank you all so much for your on-going support, patience and understanding during this time.  Please rest assured that we will continue to communicate regularly and address concerns as they arise.  If you have any further questions, please email me at

Warm regards, Robin
