April 13, 2020

Good evening, students and families,

I hope everyone is doing well on this stormy Monday.  As we begin week three of the Branford High School Flex Learning structure, we continue to work with teachers and student support teams to create the best conditions to meet the diverse needs of our students. This week, teachers will have a new resource called Google Meet in which they can live conference with classes and small groups of students.  This tool is not meant to replicate a traditional class, but instead will allow teachers to further connect with our students.  Over the next few weeks, teachers who choose to use this resource will communicate their expectations of their students within the guidelines set for teachers and students by Branford Public Schools.

This new aspect of our students’ experience also presents an opportunity for us to balance the synchronous, students and teachers are working together and interacting in a digital space in real-time, and asynchronous, teachers post instruction and learning materials online and students engage with class materials and complete work at their own pace within a given timeframe.  We want to provide flexibility for students, families, and teachers as they work to meet the challenges of our new normal, but also support them in interacting with their teachers and peers during their scheduled time within the BHS Flex Learning structure.

If you can’t use your computer during indicated times or complete work on time, tell your teacher. Ask for help if you are confused by a lesson or feel like you are falling behind.  Your teacher will help.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me at with any questions you may have.

Stay safe and be well.
