Donald A. Neel
Chief Operating Officer
Don joined the Branford Public Schools as Chief Operating Officer in 2016 after having served one and a half years as interim Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for the non-instructional operations of the district, including the talent services and business services departments and contracted food service operations. He has served a variety of public school districts and private institutions throughout southern New England for more than 25 years and has provided program turnaround and process improvement plans for schools and non-profits. Don is a graduate of Cornell University and earned his M.B.A. in finance and M.A. in international studies at the University of Connecticut. He is a past president of the Connecticut Association of School Business Officials (CASBO). As an educator, Don’s financial and operational decisions are guided by the primary objective of always doing what is in the best interests of our students. Don is a master beekeeper and commutes from his home in Willington, where he lives with his wife Jane, also a CASBO past president, and their airedale, Parker.
