Mary T. Murphy School Principal
Robin joined Branford Public Schools in 1988. His first position in education began in 1979 at Becket Academy, an outdoor experiential school in East Haddam, CT. He arrived with a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics, and no experience working with young adolescents. During his ten-year tenure there, he earned his M.A. and certification in special education at the University of Hartford, and his sixth-year degree and certification in educational leadership. He next taught in East Hampton in an alternative special education program. His career in Branford began at Walsh Intermediate School as an assistant principal (12 years,) followed by another twelve years as principal, before becoming the principal at Mary T. Murphy School. His varied experiences working with adolescents shaped his core belief that all kids can experience a level of enduring success when provided an environment with the right set of challenges and supports. Mr. Goeler strives to provide the students, staff and parent community with a learning environment that inspires curiosity and embraces life-long learning while celebrating the diverse qualities that each student and staff member brings to school on a daily basis.
