Pre-K Registration

2026-2027 BPS Full-Day Pre-K

All Pre-K classrooms are located at the Indian Neck Campus, continuing our commitment to a comprehensive approach to early childhood programming. The program serves students from across the district, including those with special needs. Initially, 55 general education seats will be available. A waitlist will be created for additional children, and additional sections may be opened if there is sufficient demand. For more program specific information, please continue to the PreK Programming section.

  • Full-day pre-school programs have been extensively studied for their impact on early childhood development, academic achievement, and long-term success. Research indicates that full-day preschool offers substantial benefits over half-day programs. Studies have found that children in full-day programs develop stronger vocabulary, math, and literacy skills, and are better prepared for Kindergarten. These academic advantages continue into later grades, with students more likely to perform at grade level by third grade. Full-day preschool also helps children develop better social skills, emotional regulation, and self-control. Additionally, children in these programs are less likely to need special education services and more likely to graduate high school and attend college. Investing in full-day preschool sets a strong foundation for long-term success.

  • The full-day program follows an emergent curriculum, meaning lessons and activities are designed around the interests, needs, and strengths of the children. This approach fosters engagement, curiosity, and a love of learning.

A certified Pre-K teacher leads the class throughout the day, providing a structured yet flexible learning environment where children thrive. Our play-based curriculum ensures that learning is hands-on, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Through purposeful play, children build foundational academic skills, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and develop important social-emotional skills in a way that feels natural and enjoyable.

Classrooms are inclusive and diverse, with a mix of students, including those receiving special education services and typically developing peers. This model promotes empathy, cooperation, and social growth, helping all children learn from one another.

Students also participate in a variety of enrichment experiences. Some program enhancements include Physical Education (PE), Art, Music, Sign Language, and Library. These activities support cognitive, social, and physical development.

While there is no designated nap time, our schedule provides ample opportunities for movement, exploration, and creative play. This approach helps children build stamina for a full school day while keeping them actively engaged in learning. Please note: to enroll in the full-day program, general education students must be fully potty-trained.
