Tobacco Research in Youth - Yale University School of Medicine

Posted Date: 09/03/26 (01:08 PM)

The Tobacco Research in Youth (TRY) Group at Yale University School of Medicine is conducting research studies to help decrease the rapidly rising rates of e-cigarette use among high school adolescents. This includes two types of virtual research studies: 1) surveys and focus groups and to help us understand vaping use behaviors, perceptions, and quitting experiences. 2) intervention studies focused on helping adolescent quit vaping. We will test the use of a new smartphone App designed to teach coping skills to help with quitting vaping.   Please see the attached Information Form for Passive Permission for the details of the study.

If your child vapes nicotine AND is interested in quitting, they may be eligible to participate in this study. This study is conducted remotely and will not interfere with your child’s regular school day.

If you have any questions about the study, please call or email Tom Liss at the email / cell # listed below.

If you DO NOT want your child to participate, please let us know by 09/25/2026.  You can email Thomas Liss (thomas.liss@yale.edu) or call/text 203-361-4267 to let us know.  Remember to include your child’s name and school in your email.

If we don’t hear back from you by this time, we will assume that your child has permission to participate.
