DEVELOPMENT AND REVIEW PHASES

PHASE 1: Engage in professional learning to build teacher understanding of the content standards and aligned instructional practices.

PHASE 2: Review and evaluate the current curriculum, compare current standards, and research best practices.

PHASE 3: Revise curriculum, including indicators of student growth. Select and purchase supporting materials. Pilot revised curriculum. Present revised curriculum to the Board of Education as part of a Teaching & Learning update.

PHASE 4: Implement the adopted curriculum with a focus on instruction and professional development. Evaluate needs for modification of learning plan based on evidence of student learning. Monitor implementation and make adjustments. Collect and analyze data on student performance. Determine needs for supplemental materials and additional in-service training.

PHASE 5: K-12 content area team reassembles to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum based on data and various measures of student outcomes.
