Reach For The Stars

Dear JBS Families,

A HUGE THANK YOU to all the families who were able to participate in the JBS Parent Chat this evening.  Your participation in tonight's event is greatly appreciated!  We reviewed our elementary school goals, what has been working well and areas for continuous improvement within our school community.  We will host our next JBS Parent Chat in December and look forward to seeing you all again.

A friendly reminder to all families: The Sliney We Stand Tall and Reach for the Stars Project is due on Thursday, 10/28.  Please check your child's homework folder and/or back-pack.  We look forward to seeing your child's project and creativity! Please have your child bring in their work/drawing to school by Thursday, October 28th.  As always, thank you for your on-going support and entrusting us with your child!

** Remember to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences with your child's teacher on November 10th or November 16th! **

 Have a wonderful week!

Warmly, Maria Clark Principal

Message from Mrs. Megan St. Pierre, STEM Teacher

Hello from the S.T.E.M. room.  It has been a great start to our year!  Our Sliney Scientists have been learning about so many different things in the world around us: the structure and function of objects in kindergarten, light in first grade, the different states of matter in second grade, life cycles and survival in third grade, and how our brains take in and process the things we see and do in fourth grade.  We will continue to study these areas and explore some real world problems within these topics to try and come up with our own solutions. For instance our third grade scientists are learning about the life cycle of the honey bee to try and come up with ways to help local beekeepers stop the decline of their bees while our second grade scientists are studying matter so they can understand how to design a shelter to help animals survive in the rain, freezing cold or hot weather.  I look forward to learning and exploring these areas and more with your young scientist!  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at mstpierre@branfordschools.org. Thank you, Mrs. St. Pierre
