Reach For The Stars

Dear JBS Families,

During morning announcements, we have been celebrating the hard work and progress of our students in the area of reading and their use of the Lexia Program!  It's been wonderful to see the excitement of the students when they receive their Lexia Super Star certificates.  KUDOS to all the students, teachers and staff for embedding this program into their everyday schedule and time to practice these reading skills. We have seen such great growth in our students' reading skills since the beginning of the school year.

Here are a few reminders for the upcoming weeks:

Family Teacher Conferences - February 9th and 16th

On February 9th and February 16th, we will be hosting the JBS Family Teacher Conferences.  Please note that all families will have the opportunity to either meet in person or virtually. If you choose to have an in-person conference, please know that all health and safety measures will need to be followed.  These protocols include: mask-wearing, social distancing and limiting each conference to 12-13 minutes in length. If you haven't set up a conference yet, please reach out to your child's teacher/s.  Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!

KINDNESS PROJECT

As a way to connect the 100th Day of School to our SEL theme of being kind towards others, we are asking that each grade level collect 100 items that will be donated to local shelters or food banks.  The assigned grade level item donations are as follows:

Pre-K and Kindergarten: toothbrushes

First Grade:    socks

Second Grade: granola bars

Third Grade: mac and cheese boxes

Fourth Grade: soap (bar or pump)

Thank you in advance for participating in this school-wide kindness project.  We will be collecting these donations from February 7th to February 18th.  We will continue to update you with our progress towards reaching our donation goals!
