Dear JBS Families,
We are happy to share that our school-wide assemblies have been a huge success this year! We celebrated Veteran's Day with a Veteran's Day Slide-Show Presentation, a Sliney Singers' Performance and we honored all the Veterans within our very own school community that were able to join us at the assembly. Thanks to the JBS PTA, we also enjoyed a presentation provided by the Mohegan Tribe Council. We are so fortunate to have these opportunities for our students and school community. Thanks to everyone for your support and all the staff that helped to organize these events!
Thank you to all families that shared their "gratitude flag" projects during the month of November. These projects are on display in our main entrance hallway for everyone to enjoy reading.
During the month of December, our SEL theme will be COMPASSION. Throughout the month, Sliney staff and students will be discussing what compassion means and ways to show compassion to others. One of our school-wide projects will be to decorate holiday cards for the elderly in our school community. Information will be sent home with your children! Please return these cards to the main office after the Thanksgiving Break.
We look forward to all the exciting events coming up in December, especially our Scholastic Book Fair and the Janet Melillo Pajama Drive. Please continue to check your email and your child's school folder on a regular basis for more information.
