ACCESS TRANSITION PROGRAM

Overview: Access is Branford Public Schools’ post-graduate transition program designed for students with disabilities ages 18-22 years old who are in need of additional training and skill development in the areas of employment, independent living, and post-secondary education upon completion of high school. Our mission is to provide each student with a highly individualized and comprehensive set of services in order to help them reach their highest level of independence in these areas. Clients of Access will receive a combination of classroom and community-based instruction and on the job vocational training with the support of a special education teacher, speech and language pathologist, school psychologist, and job coaches.

Location: Access is housed at Indian Neck School next to the Student Services Department for all classroom-based instruction. Vocational training and community-based learning will take place at a variety of sites within the community such as restaurants, retail stores, offices, fitness centers, grocery stores, and a wide range of other businesses.
