Security Home

Prevention, preparedness, and partnership across every Branford school.

Branford Public Schools Security is committed to providing a safe, secure, and welcoming learning environment focused on the well-being of every student, staff member, and visitor.

Effective school security combines prevention, preparedness, and strong partnerships to identify risks, respond to emergencies, and support the district's educational mission. School safety at Branford Public Schools is proactive, collaborative, and continuous, supported by ongoing security enhancements and close coordination with local police and fire.

Beyond day-to-day building security, the team also plays a behind-the-scenes role in coordinating logistics for graduations, athletic events, and other large school gatherings.

Safety Concern?

Safety concerns are best directed to your child's school administration first. You can reach

What We Do

  • Physical security and access control at all district schools
  • Emergency planning and preparedness
  • Threat assessment and incident management
  • Security training and safety education for staff and students
  • Coordination with local police, fire, and other first responders

  • Start with your child's school administration — principals coordinate daily with the Security department and are best positioned to respond quickly to a specific concern. Emergencies should be reported to 911.

  • All BPS schools use access control procedures at building entrances. Families and visitors are asked to follow posted sign-in procedures at every visit, even for familiar routines like pickup.

  • Yes, security is on duty in every BPS school whenever students are present.

We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
