District Operations

From the COO

As Chief Operating Officer, I lead the financial and operational functions that support Branford Public Schools every day. That includes Business & Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, Transportation, Safety & Security, Technology, and Food Services.

Our work ranges from developing the District budget and maintaining our schools to managing transportation, supporting employees, strengthening technology, serving healthy meals, and planning major capital investments. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it affects every student, employee, and school in Branford.

I am fortunate to lead a strong team of professionals across these areas. Our responsibility is to manage resources thoughtfully, plan for the future, and communicate clearly with the community about the work underway.

Our team is proud to serve our students, teachers, staff, parents, and community.

Current Major Priorities

  •  We are managing the investment our community made in the BPS Facilities Master Plan, including the renovation of Branford High School and a $196 million project to expand and renovate Murphy and Tisko.

  •  We are one of the state's top farm-to-school districts, partnering directly with local CT farmers to strengthen our regional economy and put fresh, nutritious, scratch-cooked food in front of students every day.

  • We are building and operating one of the largest electric bus yards on the East Coast, pairing vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-building technology with advanced routing and real-time bus tracking that makes mornings simpler for families.

  • We are hiring and retaining the talent to deliver the best instruction in the state.

  • We are staying ahead on technology and AI readiness for our students, our staff, and our operations.

Transparency and Resources

We are stewards of public resources, and transparency is fundamental to how our team works. We are committed to an open and inclusive process, and we coordinate closely with our colleagues in Town government and with Town leadership. Everything below is public and updated throughout the year, so anyone in Branford can follow the work as it happens.

The annual budget
The annual operating and capital budget is one of the most important policy documents the Board of Education adopts. Follow along on our budget page, where we post every version as it moves through the process, beginning with the Superintendent's presentation in January that kicks off the public process. You'll also find Understanding the School Budget there, a plain-language guide to how the budget is built and where your questions fit in.

Financial reports
Financial reports are one of the best tools for understanding how the district operates. As part of the Town of Branford, the Board of Education is included in the Town's annual audited financial statements. Every month, my team presents our current financial standing in our Personnel and Finance BOE Committee Monthly Report. Our Annual Report offers a closer look at our operations and finances.
