Dear JBS Families,
On November 10th and November 16th, we will be having the Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences at Sliney. We will be providing all families with the opportunity to attend conferences either in-person or virtually via google-meet. Your child's teacher/s will be reaching out to you with more details about how to sign-up for a conference. If you will be attending the Parent-Teacher Conferences in-person, please remember the following: all individuals that enter our school grounds, must wear a mask at all times and observe six-feet of social distancing whenever possible. As always, conferences start and end times will need to be followed especially if the conference is held in-person. These three practices ~ mask-wearing, social distancing and keeping to the conference time-frames ~ will provide a safe experience for everyone involved with the conference. Thank you for your on-going support and partnership in your child's education! We look forward to meeting with all of you to discuss your child's academic and social-emotional growth.
This week, your child will receive information on our Sliney We Stand Tall and Reach for the Stars Project! Please check your child's homework folder and/or back-pack. We look forward to seeing your child's work, creativity and what our Sliney school motto means to them. Our 4th Grade Student Council will be helping with making this project visible and discussed throughout the classrooms. Please have your child bring in their work/drawing to school by Thursday, October 28th. Thank you!

Here's a message from Mr. Ryan Berry, our Sliney Music Teacher:
Hello Parents and Members of the JBS community!
I'm very excited to begin my music teaching career at JBS in such a supportive and welcoming community. Allow me to introduce myself a little better! Music has been the biggest passion in my life ever since I was an elementary student myself, and I'm very fortunate that now I'm able to help students discover and build on the joy of music that my teachers instilled in me. Some of the many areas covered in the music curriculum are: beat and rhythm recognition, introduction to reading music, music appreciation, and learning about the different types of instruments. As for myself, I'm primarily an electric and upright bass player, but I can also play the flute, clarinet, saxophone, and trumpet. In my free time, I like to play gigs on the weekends with the few different bands that I'm in. If you ever have any questions about music class, please feel free to contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I'm very much looking forward to having a successful year of music making with every student here at JBS! Stay safe and take care!
