Senior Internship Update

Career Pathways Coordinator, Mrs. Valaouras, spoke with our seniors regarding two exciting internship opportunities!  The Senior Internship Program allows our students the opportunity to research and connect with a local business within our community and work with them to gain invaluable knowledge and experience in that industry.  The Senior Internship Program will begin in May.

The Internal Internship Program offers students the opportunity to remain in school and participate daily in supervised, authentic learning experiences in Technology Support and Athletics Management.  The internship will begin in Quarter 4.

Students are encouraged to begin the registration process by completing the necessary paperwork and directing all questions to Mrs. Valaouras at tvalaouras@branfordschools.org.

We are eager to work together in facilitating students' attainment of internships that align with their interests and career aspirations.  We encourage all students to take advantage of these internship opportunities even if they are uncertain about their interests or career goals as that's where an internship can be a valuable experience for them.

The Connecticut Judicial Branch in cooperation with high schools across the State of Connecticut, has formed a virtual job shadowing program. This program allows the students from across the state to visit members of the CT Judicial Branch via ZOOM to discuss their positions within the Judicial Branch, their duties and responsibilities as well as the qualifications and process to become a member of the judicial agency.  Areas that will be covered are positions in the juvenile justice system, Adult Probation, and the Office of the Court Clerk.

BHS External Lockdown Notification System

Ensuring the safety of our school community is a top priority.  We have implemented an exterior lockdown notification system to swiftly communicate and respond to potential security concerns. This proactive measure enhances our ability to maintain a secure and supportive learning environment for all.

Project Graduation Update

It's time to have our first kickoff meeting to discuss Project Graduation 2024. Please join us for a meeting on Thursday, February 8th at 6:00 at BHS in one of the health rooms. Project Graduation is a safe, substance-free, entertaining all-night event following graduation.

Please do everything you can to attend. If we do not have the support and funding for this event, it will not happen this year. While the event is for seniors, underclassman families help participate in the planning. We encourage new BHS families to get involved and this is a perfect opportunity.  If you are interested in helping but can't attend the meeting, please send an email to branfordprojgrad@gmail.com
