JBS

Dear John B. Sliney Parents,

We hope everyone had a fantastic Spring Recess, cherishing precious moments with family and friends!  As we embrace the final months of the school year, we're excited about the myriad of academic and end-of-year activities awaiting us. Throughout April and May, our focus revolves around the theme of perseverance, instilling in our students the value of resilience and determination.

One exciting initiative we have planned on perseverance is a JBS Read-a-Thon, where students will set goals to read alongside their families and record their progress on reading logs. This initiative culminates in a Literacy Celebration at the end of May, honoring student success in reading and perseverance.  Reading logs will be sent home later this week!

We extend a heartfelt thank you to all students and families who joined us for our Cultural Celebration on April 3, 2024. The evening was enriched with delicious food, captivating cultural performances, and a vibrant celebration of our diverse heritages at Sliney. Special appreciation goes to the PTA and staff for their invaluable contributions to the event's success!

Looking ahead, our 3rd and 4th-grade students will soon undergo the CT Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA), and our dedicated staff and classroom teachers have been diligently preparing them for this state assessment. We express gratitude to all parents and guardians for their unwavering support at home. Stay tuned for further details on the SBA testing as we approach May.

Moreover, preparations for the upcoming school year, including class placement for 2024-2025, are underway. By the start of next week, I'll be sharing a letter outlining the process with all families. Please keep an eye out for this important information.

Thank you for your continued partnership, and let's look forward to another wonderful week ahead.

Warm regards,

Maria Clark
